While I was on night duty during last Ramadan, her parents came running with her to the emergency department of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital at 4:30 am. I found her heart rate 29 beats per minute and oxygen saturation 22%. I gave her CPR for more than one and half hours, she made heart rate to 64 beats per minute and oxygen saturation raised to 95% and I referred her to the Department of Pediatrics.
As a doctor, the stress and challenges I had been through in the emergency department was beyond words. I along with three other nurses managed two mass casualties that night and took care of that baby at the same time. Last January 31st was her birthday, and her happy face made all our efforts meaningful.
